How does HP install software and gather data? The printer status is offline or The printer is not responding displays when attempting to print. I restart with printer and iMac, still can't find the printer. I can print to the printer from two different MacBook Pros over the same wireless network. When I try to add the printer back, the printer can't be found. Next, I tried using the canon setup program; it can't find the printer.

Try resetting the Printing System on your iMac. Follow the directions given in this Apple KB article. After doing that, attach the Canon via USB and see if it's detected.
